The official current custody list is the MRRJ Current Offenders roster, a Public Safety Cloud/JailTracker-style application linked from MRRJ's official home page. The roster is the best first stop for adults held in local or regional custody after a Mecklenburg-area arrest.
The roster is not a complete criminal-history file. It does not replace court records, VADOC records, federal inmate records, or ICE detention records. It also may not show someone who was just arrested, released, transferred, held under a sealed matter, or moved into state custody. Use the Mecklenburg County Inmate Roster
The current-offenders app is a browser-based roster. It may not load in old browsers or text-only tools because it depends on modern JavaScript and WebAssembly. Start with the official MRRJ site when possible, because that link confirms the roster is the jail's public channel.

- Search by last name and first name when the app displays separate name fields.
- Use current-only or released-since filters if they appear. Try alternate spellings for hyphenated names.
- Complete any captcha before submitting. The app resources include captcha validation components.
- Open the person record if results are clickable, then review facility, booking, charge, bond, hold, and court fields.
- If the arrest is fresh and no record appears, call MRRJ because roster publication can lag behind booking and classification.

Booking Records in Mecklenburg County
MRRJ annual-report material describes a formal intake path. Intake officers review committal documents before accepting custody, conduct a pat-down search, collect and inventory property, and enter the person into the computerized jail-management system. The jail uses digital optical fingerprint capture and a jail-management system for booking, tracking, and release. The roster is the public layer of that system, not the full internal booking file.
Newly booked offenders receive two free five-minute calls under MRRJ phone rules. Classification staff then place the person based on custody status, medical needs, gender housing, work release, special management, or other jail criteria. Mecklenburg County Jail Visit Rules
MRRJ says family and friend visits are conducted through tablets in the housing units using GettingOut. The separate ViaPath/GTL visitor kiosk inspected states attorney visitation only. Visitors must register through GettingOut and follow behavior, dress, account, and no-photo rules. Disciplinary custody can block visits.

Mail, Phone, and Funds
Mail, phone, and money rules are separate from the inmate search itself, but they become important after a record is found. Family and friend mail goes to the Phoenix, Maryland scanning address with the facility name, inmate name, and jacket number. Legal mail, books, and subscriptions go to MRRJ's Alberta post office box. MRRJ says money orders through mail are returned except under the legal mail/books/subscriptions rules.
